Turns out that J. Lo (in the Movie The Wedding Planner) was wrong – sometimes those who plan DO wed! This summer Kathy Bishop, Fantastic Functions owner planned her most fabulous event yet – her own wedding to  Christopher Place.

When Chris and I began planning our wedding we dreamed of a tropical destination wedding, but also wanted to be able to spend our big day with all of our loved ones...so the theme for our wedding became "A Destination Wedding at Home".

Although planning a wedding when you’re a wedding planner SOUNDS easy there was SO much pressure (some of which was self-inflicted of course) to make it FANTASTIC!

The terrific staff at Polo Fields Golf and Country Club in Ann Arbor dove right in to pull off their first EVER poolside wedding, and we couldn't be more grateful.

Photographer Patrick Abel from Special Moments Photography who was as much fun to work with as his pictures are beautiful. You can see some of his work here.

Singer, DJ, and acoustic guitar player Chris Delgado of JumpStart DJs provided the entertainment for the reception as well as the sound system for the ceremony.

The gorgeous flowers were created by Gigi’s Flowers and Gifts, in Chelsea.

A cake that somehow managed to taste better than it looked was made by Cate Ackerman.

At the end of the evening our guests were treated to a milk and cookie bar and could take home their treats in boxes personalized by an adorable picture of our dog – Abbie. Cookies were baked for us by our wonderful Aunt Karen, Kathy’s mom Joann, and Kathy’s cousin Amy Richardson.
